CLARION CALL: STAND UP FOR THE 'LAST BASTION' DO NOT TINKER Written by : Wg Cdr Abhishek Matiman (Retd)         Worst fears coming true, never did fathom it would all happen so fast though. The Indian Armed Forces always took pride in having been an apolitical organisation. Having delivered every single time when called upon, for obvious reasons, did make them an object of envy to all others. So much so, that armchair warriors blessed with the proximity of our policy making leadership worked overtime to somehow pull the soldier down from the high pedestal that the citizens place him at. Seeking parity, infact going for one upmanship against the Armed Forces with actually nothing to boast of, as regards their own work / achievements.         Of late, the trend has risen to alarming levels. Whilst the policy for appointments at the top echelons of military leadership does cater for limited political discretion, blatant use of the same, however, in a jiffy, unmindfu

WHO DARES - WINS USHERING IN A TRULY 'SPECIAL INDEPENDENCE DAY' Written by : Wg Cdr Abhishek Matiman (Retd)        Whilst 'unprecedented' is one word that aptly sums up the flurry of activity the just concluded parliamentary session saw, 'historical' would be the other that summarises the achievements it brought.             Indian conscience, long in slumber before the 'dare-devils' took over in 2014, limbered up to get over the inertia after some creditable firsts achieved in NaMo Edition-1. With the 2019 Lok Sabha elections done and dusted and a landslide win reaffirming the faith of the people, came Edition-2..... and the Nation went off the blocks.               Myths shattered, historical wrongs corrected, seemingly impossible achieved - the record breaking dream run in the parliament leaves Bharatvarsh well poised to be catapulted to the next orbit. All seemingly in spectacular synch with the progress of Chandrayaan-2, well and tru
FROM A LAND OF PLENTY TO PELTING OUR LIFE SAVERS OUR JOURNEY AND THE WAY AHEAD Written by : Wg Cdr Abhishek Matiman (Retd)         To me - 'Bharat', my nation that I have given my blood and sweat to, always stood as a unified identity. Thoughts, even remotely patriotic that come to one's mind are born out of a sense of belongingness that one has to his / her Nation. The Nation, to all those who think about it, represents people who belong to it and all the rest that mother nature has endowed the particular piece of land with. That, in our case amounts to a whopping 1.37 billion human lives concentrated in an area of 3.28 million square kilometres of land.     Any rational person would readily concede that ensuring peaceful coexistence of contentment for 17.74% of the world's population living off barely 2.4% of the world's total land area would entail an extraordinary administrative effort. In addition, the unmatched diversity on account of caste, cr

NAMO : THE HARRIED POTTER REMOULDING INDIA

NAMO - THE HARRIED POTTER REMOULDING INDIA By: Wing Commander Abhishek Matiman (Retd.)           As chants of 'Har har Modi', 'Ghar ghar Modi' continue to reverberate across the Nation or I dare say, with conviction - across the World, there are very few with the gumption to look deep enough, at the skillfull craftsmanship of the Man, that goes into remoulding Indian polity.            At a time when decades of divisive politics had actually widened gaps to an extent that 'vote banks' unabashedly came to be prefixed by the name of the religion they pertained to. When the populace and media in all its forms accepted it as part of typical political discourse, immersing the nation into endless nervewracking debates desperately vying for TRPs….in came the Wizard, knowing all too well, the nuances of winning minds and hearts using the one unifying factor in a land of diversity - THE NATION.            Taking over the reins in 2014, riding a wave

NAMO's LANDSLIDE WIN CHANGES THE FACE OF 'NETAGIRI' IN THE COUNTRY

A landslide win for BJP, on the cards all along - the revelry started even before the counting of votes could be completed. Now that the speculation and doubts are brushed aside and the writing is on the wall, what's most heartening is the fact that, the common man sees the victory of S hri Narendra Damodardas Modi as his own. Of his own aspirations and dreams that the majority perceives being absolutely in sync with the dreams of their most loved Prime Minister. While the naysayers may continue to differ, the fact remains that the connect that NaMo has succeeded to establish with the people he works for, has been surreal. His 'Mann ki Baat' indeed has percolated through minds and hearts across the Nation.       What most fail  to realise is that such close connect happens only when it evolves out of a visible honest yearning to serve, from the core of one's heart. Blessed feels the Nation today, to have a Man at the helm who cares, dares and is determined
